Elon's $1B Skydance check: his wallet, not SpaceX's
Elon Musk reportedly put about $1B of his own money into Skydance, a seat next to more than $30B a year of content spend, while SpaceX's $89.9B of cash and securities stays untouched.
One rented tower, 11 times its rent
SpaceX is reported to be in talks to rent at least 80,000 US cell sites. Our estimate is that one site costs about 20,300 dollars a year in rent but could earn about 11 times that in phone bills, so winning subscribers, more than paying rent, is the hard part.
$100T, one gigawatt at a time
We build a $100T SpaceX case from single units, one gigawatt, one Starship launch and one subscriber, and find the watt is the unit that gets there. Every forward number here is our estimate.
What the SpaceX Q3 10-Q says that the earnings release did not
The SpaceX Q3 10-Q shows about $9.6B of operating cash in the quarter (our estimate), 2.8 times the whole first half. It also shows one customer paying about $5.0B, or 34.5% of revenue, and $23.7B of compute gear still under construction. Demand looks stronger than the release showed, and the concentration and funding risks are clearer.
Starlink's hidden pieces: one Starship launch at a time
Elon says Starlink has a clear path to several hundred billion dollars a year. Our estimate is that one full Starship launch of satellites could earn about 10 times SpaceX's own launch cost target every year even after prices fall 86%, so launch cadence sets the limit before demand does.
SpaceX Q3 2026: what one gigawatt of AI compute earns
SpaceX nearly tripled revenue to $14.6B on AI cloud deals. Our estimate is that its $33B to $37B Q1 2027 guide needs each watt of compute to earn about $39 a year, about 2.6 times what Q3 produced.
